African American Pioneers in Space ExhibitThe African American Pioneers in Space Exhibit will help students to understand and appreciate the history of African Americans space pioneers in the past, present and into the future. The Exhibit provides a conduit for students to visualize and hear exciting stories of former musicians, a professional dancer, a professional football player and many other astronauts who started out with similar dreams.
The Exhibit highlights President Obama’s appointment of an African American, former astronaut Major General Charles F. Bolden, Jr., as the twelfth Administrator (CEO) of NASA. General Bolden participated in the first McNair Space and Science Camp in Atlanta. The Exhibit also offers an excellent opportunity to highlight the contributions of African American Space Pioneers during the Black History Month celebration at your organization. Purpose:
